about the editor
Clive Sanders graduated from the University of London with an Honours degree in Law. He then spent over a decade as an Insurance Litigation Solicitor in the City of London. Starting with articles at a City 'marine' practice, followed by Berrymans and most recently Vizards, Staples Bannisters.

In May 2000, ready for a break from counting his time in six-minute units, Clive moved to a tropical beach and started work on links4lawyers.com as a way to further his long-held fascination with technology and to explore the new possibilities for legal research offered by the internet.

"The difficulty facing lawyers," Clive comments, "is that there are vast amounts of resources on the internet but most lawyers are far too busy to find out where. While search-engines and a few Legal Directory sites can point you in the right direction, my experience was they were hard to use..."

"My mission with links4lawyers.com is to build the most comprehensive legal resource site specifically for UK lawyers, which at the same time is easy and intuitive to use."

With computers accessible as they are and most linked to the internet, the other benefit of this is that useful work can be achieved without being "chained to a desk". This entire site was written and built on a laptop in Thailand (except for three days in London taking the photos). "With inexpensive wireless networking, it's now even possible to surf the internet and edit a site from a hammock on the terrace, or on the beach."

So where to now? It can't be a full-time job maintaining links4lawyers.com?...

"I've looked at several hundred websites now and what really struck me was how much time I would have saved when I was in private practice if someone had taken a couple of hours to show me where to go to download legal forms, check legislation, search company information and find relevant cases & materials. I'm returning to the UK to teach lawyers what you can find in just a few seconds to save you hours."
